Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Hard Chrome Plating Technician to join our specialized workshop team in Kuwait. The successful candidate will be responsible for the hard chrome plating, restoration, and finishing of ball valve balls and other precision industrial machine components. The role will focus on restoring worn, corroded, pitted, or damaged component surfaces through controlled hard chrome plating processes, followed by the required grinding, polishing, and dimensional finishing to achieve specified tolerances and surface quality. The ideal candidate should have practical experience in industrial hard chrome plating of precision mechanical components, preferably including ball valve components, hydraulic components, shafts, rods, and other machinery parts.

Responsibilities

• • Perform hard chrome plating of ball valve balls and precision industrial machine components.
• • Inspect components for wear, corrosion, pitting, scoring, and surface damage before plating.
• • Prepare components through cleaning, degreasing, stripping, surface preparation, and masking.
• • Carry out appropriate masking and racking of ball valve balls and other components prior to plating.
• • Set up and operate hard chrome plating tanks and associated equipment.
• • Monitor and control plating parameters including current, voltage, temperature, plating time, and required chrome thickness.
• • Build up worn or damaged component surfaces through controlled chrome deposition to allow subsequent finishing to the required dimensions.
• • Measure and verify coating thickness and component dimensions throughout the restoration process.
• • Coordinate post-plating grinding, lapping, polishing, and finishing of ball valve balls and other precision components.
• • Ensure finished components meet required dimensional tolerances, surface finish, and quality specifications.
• • Use micrometers, vernier calipers, coating thickness gauges, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
• • Monitor plating solutions and support routine bath maintenance and process control.
• • Maintain plating tanks, rectifiers, fixtures, tools, and associated workshop equipment.
• • Maintain accurate plating, inspection, and job records.
• • Handle chromium-based chemicals and associated waste in accordance with approved HSE and environmental procedures.
• • Coordinate with UNIGULF's Ball Valve Ball, Machining, Hydraulics, and other workshop teams as required during component restoration.

Requirements

• • ITI, Diploma, or equivalent technical qualification in Mechanical, Electroplating, Surface Treatment, Machining, or a related discipline.
• • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in industrial hard chrome plating.
• • Practical experience in hard chrome restoration of precision mechanical components.
• • Experience with ball valve balls or other valve components will be a strong advantage.
• • Experience with components such as hydraulic rods, shafts, pistons, cylinders, rollers, and other machine parts is preferred.
• • Good knowledge of component preparation, masking, racking, chrome deposition, grinding, polishing, and finishing.
• • Understanding of chrome thickness, dimensional tolerances, surface finish, and precision restoration requirements.
• • Ability to operate and monitor industrial hard chrome plating equipment safely.
• • Ability to use precision measuring and inspection instruments.
• • Knowledge of plating bath/process control and troubleshooting is preferred.
• • Good understanding of chemical handling, PPE, HSE, and environmental requirements associated with industrial hard chrome plating.
• • Strong attention to detail and commitment to achieving high-quality surface and dimensional finishes.
• Candidates with direct experience in the hard chrome plating and dimensional restoration of ball valve balls, valve components, hydraulic parts, and precision machine components will be given preference.
